Regression

Sigh. Some regression somewhere in the ATA setup code in Linux 3.7 is stopping a X4500 booting. My build system is not really setup for supporting multiple kernels. Today it has to learn.

I’d like to do a bisect but I only have one X4500 and it takes ages to boot, which isn’t great even on a non-critical server (it still has some work to do). It only took half a day to fix up my build system to build build multiple Linux+aufs+ZFS packages that can coexist sanely. Sometimes a patch is good enough!

I might be better to agitate for some newer and more standard hardware. There’s just not a lot of choices out there for high-capacity standalone servers.
